My first choice is A (no full stops required here) but the answer is B. I don't understand why answer A is wrong.

I think they are both acceptable.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. :-D

Please try to answer question 1 yourself first and then we will comment. As you can see, with question 2, I think they are both OK.

Please review your use of punctuation, particularly full stops. I have made some corrections in red.

NOT A TEACHER

B is not the correct answer, at least, not according to my standard interpretation of this sentence. The keyword is "debate". What kind of cadidate would a politician debate?

The definition of a candidate is someone who is a competitor in a competition/election, so it is unnecessary to say "competitive candidates". (Note, there is a slightly different definition of "competitive" which might look as if it makes sense but it would be an unlikely usage.)

So - between A and C, which do you think fits?

Hmm.... I think Question C

Yes, the other candidates are his rivals in the election so they are described as "rival candidates".

Hi, Anniversary!:-D

'There was a time when I was....like you.'(I feel like Olivia Newton-John.:-D)

Well, what I'd like you to know is :
Please start a new thread when you want to ask another question.

I was like you, really. I used to post some different questions in(on?) the same thread.
Please remember there are some rules here on this forum.:-D
Good luck!

Please start a new thread for separate questions, Threads can become hopelessly confusing if people start answering different questions in one thread.
