Hello, Teacher, should I use present perfect here? which is correct?

Something has come up and therefore I can't do lunch tomorrow. Let's try and meet some time end of April. Would that work for you?

or

Something came up and therefore I can't do lunch tomorrow. Let's try and meet some time end of Apirl. Would that work for you?

I prefer the present perfect, but I think that the past simple is possible, especially for speakers of AmE. I don't like 'some time end April' ; I think it's more natural as 'some time towards/around/at the end of April'.

I would use the present perfect. You might use the simple past if you were explaining to your friend later on why you didn't show up.
(ie Friend: Where were you? I sat there for an hour waiting for you!
You: I'm sorry, man. Something urgent came up and I just forgot to call you)
