So trying to get the form of a spike in.
Is the phrase: a spike in so spike is an intransitive verb followed by a preposition? So confusing. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Unfortunately, I do not understand your question at all. Is some part of your post a quote? If so, please enclose it in quotation marks. "a spike in" means nothing to me. It's not a recognised phrase.

You will see it used like this:

There has been a spike in the number of applications recently.

When it is used as a verb, when talking about increases, we tend to use it intransitively@

Applications have spiked recently.
