Spirits were low

1) I didn't feel like going out because my spirits were low.
2) He was so excited because his spirits were high.

Please check my sentences.
 
1) I didn't feel like going out because my spirits were low. ✅
2) He was so excited because his spirits were high. ❌

Please check my sentences.
Sentence 1 is OK although saying "my spirits were low" is rather old-fashioned.
Sentence 2 doesn't work because it's tautologous. Saying "his spirits were high" means much the same as "he was very excited". Also, don't use "so" to mean "very".
 
Sentence two is almost like saying he was excited because he was excited.
