I read the following sentence in a dictionary: "Linda and Dave split a milkshake between them."
I wonder whether Linda and Dave split their milkshake into two cups or they just share it in one cup by using two straws.
Could anyone help me, please?
Thanks very much.
Incidentally, are there any errors (grammar, article, punctuation, etc.) in my post?

It is not possible to say exactly how they went about splitting it.

Which means the two options are also possible?

Yes.

(Don't use "also" in your sentence. Those are the two options you gave. You didn't give new options, which would be appropriate for "also.")
