Hello.

Can I use the idiom "square the circle" in the context of dating?

Is the sentence I have written correct and natural?

Man! I know you have been trying to convince her to go out with you, but you need to understand that you cannot square the circle. She is into rich men and you are not one. Understand and move on.

It doesn't work for me, either. This is not how the expression is normally used.

I think its use is OK in the original. For me, it means "to try to achieve the impossible".
