Stress patterns

Hello,

How can I match stress patterns with these sentences?

A. _ _+_

B._ +_+

C. _ + _ _+

1.Are you coming? (A) The correct asnwer given in the book.
2.I am waiting for Jay.
3.He's on the phone.
4.I'll give you a map.
5.You can't miss it.
6.I'll ask her the way.
7.Can you help us?
8.It isn't far.
9.You are really late!

PS On second thoughts, I think it's an unfair test. In 2, it only works if you make 'I'm' into one syllable. And 9 only works if you make 'You're' into one syllable; and then it's either B or C, depending on how you count syllables in 'really'. The others are straightforward. (Hint: Count the syllables. That should get you started.)

Those are both one syllable where I come from.

"I'm" and "You're" have, of course, one syllable. Unfortunately, the test sentences contain "I am" and "You are".

Now count the syllables in the patterns; that will give you two answers without thinking, and leave you with four four-syllable phrases. Group these as two pairs.

(Vocab background: Doing the easy things first is called 'taking/gathering/choosing/etc the low-hanging fruit;-))
