Is it correct to say ' P is symmetric on the x -axis' or ' is symmetric to the x-axis'?
 
Neither makes any sense to me. An axis may be symmetric about a point,
 
Generally we talk about something being symmetric with something else.
 
Have you got an image of the graph that you could post?
