Hi,

Is there any contemporary (or less formal) word for 'bespoke', as an adjective, when used with the noun 'automation'?

"Bespoke automation becomes redundant when production processes change."

Try "custom".

Only custom or custom-made work in American English. We don't use the lovely British word "bespoke".

Then, can 'made to measure' be used for 'automation' too? (Or, is it perhaps only used for clothes and shoes?)

No.

Not exclusively, but that's the context (clothes, not shoes) you're most likely to encounter it in. I don't think you can get custom-made shoes nowadays.

Anything mass produced can also be custom-made; it is a matter of cost.

You can get anything custom-made if you've got enough money!
