Even though I've been teaching various aspects of English for over 20 years, I've recently come into a situation in which I'm having difficulty articulating the difference between syntax and usage. I know what each is; I just can't seem to be able to put the comparative into words with which I am satisfied. If anyone can help me with this conundrum, I'd appreciate it.
