Take/get a facial expression

Is this sentence correct, natural?

'As soon as she saw him, she got/took an expression of horror.'
 
"Took" is wrong. "Got" or "made" is OK.
 
It would be more natural to say "As soon as she saw him, she looked horrified" or "... a look of horror crossed her face".
 
Do you others agree that 'made' and 'got' are correct?

You didn't ask about "made" in your original sentence.

I am not keen on got/took/made with expressions. Expressions come naturally from within a person, not from without, as the verbs suggests.

"Got" and "made" were SoothingDave's suggestions in post #2. Here's a bit of good advice for everyone - read all the other responses before posting your own.
 
Took on might work.

For me, that would work with "her face" but not with "she".

... she took on a pained expression. :cross:
... her face took on a pained expression. :tick:

'... crossed her face....' implies something brief. How about '... appeared on her face...' ?
 
Go for the simple:

She looked horrified/terrified, etc.
