I am a lovely turtle and you need to take me out to bask in sunlight every day.

Is it correct?

I would change "and" to "but"

Why do you call yourself a turtle?

Read the OP's other threads. He/She has explained the exercise.

What do you mean by "lovely" turtle? Are you talking about your appearance or your demeanour/behaviour? What sort of traits does a lovely turtle exhibit? Unless the adjective you choose is commonly connected to the animal in question, I'd leave it out.

The two halves have no real connection to each other so I wouldn't use "and" or "but".
