I am taking/sitting/sitting for my flute examination next week. Are the words in bold are all possible in the said sentence? Thanks.

"I am taking my flute examination next week." This is the most natural option.

Thanks, bhai. Are "sitting and sitting for" natural for academic exams?

(I'm not a teacher, nor is English my native language)

I have never heard of that before. However, in the dictionary it does list it as a possibility.

(Social Science / Education) (tr) Chiefly Brit to take (an examination) "he's sitting his bar finals"

sit - definition of sit by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

So apparently, in British English it is common to say: I am sitting my exam next week. However, I would say: to take an exam or maybe: to undergo an examination.

Yes, you can use sitting for academic exams, that's to say exams where you sit at a desk.:)

 And I'd be very surprised if you didn't have to stand in a flute exam. Perhaps a flautist could advise. ;-)

To clarify, for academic exams you can use 'sit'. I'm not sure whether for academic exams you can use 'sit for'. I wouldn't use it, but I may have heard it.

You stand throughout a flute exam. The only exception is (in some exams) when you sit at the piano for the aural section.
