That is the closest thing you have done to damage since I've got here.

I found the sentence above in the video below (2.48). The since I've got part sounded strange to me. Shouldn't it be since I got? Have I understood something wrong regarding basic grammar rules?

Secondly, what he says is wrong. You're right—it should be since I got here, or since I've been here.

I don't have any qualms with 'since I've gotten here' or 'since I've got here'.

'Got' is a common 2nd alternative for the past participle 'gotten'.

I don't think the issue is the use of "got" vs "gotten". It's the use of the present perfect after "since".

You can use the present perfect after since with stative verbs.
Can you also use the simple past with stative verbs, or is it wrong?
