If I mention a fitness club for the first time should I still use the definite article?

1.I go to a fitness club.
2.I go to the fitness club.

The word fitness club isn't an exception, right? If you mention something for the first time, you always you 'a' or 'an'. Are there any exceptions at all? For example, words that require the definite article even if you mention them for the first time.

Words that include "The" in their official title need it, even when mentioned for the first time. Usually, they are unique places.

I am going to The White House.
Shall we go and see the Eiffel Tower?
I would love to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Context dictates whether to use indefinite or definite articles too.

Jane: What are you doing this afternoon?
Helen: I'm going to the gym. (There is no need for Jane to know which gym - "going to the gym" is a standard collocation.)

Jane: Do you keep fit?
Helen: Yes, I belong to a gym.
Jane: Oh, which one?
Helen: The gym on Hastings Road.
Jane: What a coincidence. I'm a member there too.

As you can see, there is a difference between "I belong to a gym" and "I go to the gym".
