Dear all,

"Even though we have faith in modern medicine, few of us can claim much personal knowledge of how it works."

In the sentence above, what does personal knowledge mean? I don't think medical knowledge cannot be personal.

Your "personal knowledge" is simply what YOU know about a subject. The sentence simply means that even though we believe that modern medicine works, most of us don't understand how it works.
