What is the means of "contation" in the sentence?

I think its spelling is wrong, the correct spell is "contagion".

I agree. It most likely should be 'contagion', because 'contagion' fits, and 'contation' isn't a word.

I would assume that emotional contagion means something like mass hysteria. We all know that laughing or crying can spread through a group of people. I personally wouldn't use the term 'infectious' as used below though.
