thoughtful [ˈθɔːtfl ]

Is the [t] sound a silent t like listen or a glottal stop t like mountain?

How does it sound to you?

For me, it's silent in thoughtful but definitely not in mountain.

It's not exactly silent in 'thoughtful' but yes, it isn't pronounced as a /t/ but rather as a glottal stop. In 'listen', it's completely silent. In 'mountain' it's pronounced as a /t/ (in standard RP).

It's a definite hard alveolar stop for me. There's no difference (to me) between 'thought' and 'thoughtful'.
