I am reading "The Scarlet Dress" on Kindle. I hit upon the expression "the rickety flume, which Camille deVillars' parents, the founders of the park, had had built to their own bespoke specifications;" in the Chapter 7, at the position 475/4470.

Is "had had built" correct? Or just a typo?

If they got someone else to build it, then "had had built" is fine. It's the past perfect form of "to have [something] built". They created the plan (specifications) and paid someone else to build it. They had it built.

Please name the author of the book as well as the title.

It's correct- some call it the causative. ✅
