Are the following sentences acceptable?

1. She often says that we are a big family, and all of us are her sons and daughters.
2. She treats us as her own child.
3. She shows students the right path under all circumstances and never shies away from her duties.
4. In fact, she is always there by the student’s side at the times of need.

I've amended sentence n.2 considerably as to me it sounded a little bit biblical.
