Hi,

I was wondering if the following list could be commonly used with money, hoping they fit the sentence below.

The decided to.................... more money for books/clothes/etc.

allocate
allot
assign
specify
devote
set aside

(I'm not sure if all of them can be used in such cases, or at least I don't understand the context where each might be more commonly used! )

Thanks. Actually, it was a typo (and meant to be "they"). Any idea about the usage and register of other choices above, please?

"Allocate" also works, but it's a little formal.

If I used "allocate", I would use "to", not "for".
