On the other hand, in the US people pronounce valet vaLAY.

To me, a chaise lounge is a piece of indoor furniture, usually with only one arm and a back that extends only about half the length of the chair. Those outdoor things in the pictures are simply 'lounge chairs' to me.
Same here. The things in my backyard are lounge chairs.
 
For the same reason they commit hari kari when we call papier-mâché "paper mushay" and spell it paper mache.
And when your restaurants like Outback Steakhouse, Carrabbas and Longhorn Steakhouse offer dishes with bleu cheese dressing.

Yup! And you lose count of all the ways we spell créme.

Here in Maine, Calais sounds like callous and Vienna rhymes with my Anna.
