Have I used "manifestation" correctly and naturally in this sentence?

This will which separates the two neighborhoods is a manifestation of the ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor.

It's correct and natural written English. For most people, it's not very conversational.
 
Use a simpler word if you want every possible reader to understand you. My former boss, whose college degree was in the field of English, once said he could never understand what I wrote. This was in a technical context where I had to use more complex language than I use here though, and he knew next to nothing about the technology he was responsible for managing. He was in fact, as far as I could tell, only marginally capable of understanding anything beyond the simplest of texts.

I would say "...manifestation of a growing divide between...".
