Hello.

Do you pronounce the year 3, 300 as three thousand (and) three hundred?

Re: Numbers

In BrE, it would be "three thousand three hundred" (no "and"), I would think. We don't often have to talk about years that are such a long time away.
It's possible you'll hear "thirty three hundred". That would match the year 1300 being "thirteen hundred".

Note that we don't put commas in years. It would be just written as 3300.

Hello.

Do you pronounce the year [STRIKE]3, 300[/STRIKE] 3300 as three thousand (and) three hundred?
I'd probably say thirty-three hundred. If it wasn't clear from context, I'd preface that with the year.

We don't use commas in years. When we do use commas in numbers, we don't follow the comma with a space.

Note that I have improved your thread title, Rachel.

Thank you. No ''and'' when talking about numbers either. Right ? I tried to insert the screenshot of the text, but I coudn't. They use a coma. It must be a typo.

Re: Numbers

Thank you. No ''and'' even when talking about numbers, right?

Not in BrE, no. But bear in mind, that's only with numbers like the one you suggested.

3 = three
33 = thirty three
330 = three hundred and thirty
3,300 = three thousand, three hundred

As you can see, we use "and" for "XXX hundred and XXX". We would use "and" after "xxx thousand" if the next number were lower than 100.

3,003 = three thousand and three
3,029 = three thousand and twenty nine

Re: Numbers

I guess we'll have to wait a thousand years to know. People were not sure how we would say the years this millennium when it started. I'd use three thousand three hundred, but closer to the time, people may want something shorter as they have to use the years every day.

Re: Numbers

You might also find a lack of consistency even with one native speaker. I use both "twenty eighteen" and "two thousand and eighteen" for this year.
