In China, people don't usually have the same faces. For example, Xinjiang people look like foreigners and they look very beautiful.

Today a friend asked if I could eat some lamb skewers in Chongqing (this food is originally from Xinjiang) and I said yes. Every year I go to a mountain resort and I see many Xinjiang people selling skewers there.

During the conversation between my friend and I, I used "Their faces tell you where they're from".

Is the bold sentence natural to mean "When you look at their faces, and you can know they're from Xinjiang because they look very typical of Xinjiang people".

During the conversation between my friend and me …”

It makes me think there’s a lot of inbreeding in Xinjiang.
