Hi all,
When you want to say something exists or doesn't exist, do you use there is or there are?
For example, do you say, "I believe there is Santa Clause" or "There is no Nessie" instead of saying, "I believe Santa Clause exists" or "Nessie doesn't exist"?

Yes. However, using it is not always so simple. Look at the following examples:

There are no such things as unicorns.
There is a Santa Claus!
There is no Loch Ness monster.
