Well, today I'm writing to ask you about a doubt I have: is it possible to use a contraction in the sentence "There are four children playing football"? I mean, is it grammatically correct to write "There're four children playing football"?

Thank you in advance for all your assistance.

Yes it is, though it is not commonly done, because you really don't save much- the number of typing keystrokes is the same either way.

Best reason to write the contraction would be to represent spoken English.

I might say it like that, but I wouldn't write it as a contraction. It's odd and it could make people think you were trying for "they're" and missed.

My teacher told me it wasn't correct because of the ending "THERE". I think she is the one who was wrong.

Well, I would tell my learners not to write it. As J & K Tutoring noted, it is not common.
