They are not very forthcoming on it.

Is it correct? I understand "forthcoming" means "not very interested".

The context is banks were not interested in our proposal and I was telling my supervisor the above sentence.

No, it's not correct for your context. Where did you find a definition that says "forthcoming" means "not very interested"? Please provide a link or a screenshot.

That's my random guess based on the context. Please let me know the meaning of the sentence.

Re: They are not

Did you look up "forthcoming" in a dictionary? It's much more useful than just guessing and then asking us. Your use of "I understand ..." made it sound as if you had some basis for thinking it meant that.

Re: They are not

That's one definition. Every online listing for the word that I looked at had at least two definitions. Keep looking.

You need the simple past 'said'. not the past continuous tense.

Don't address members as 'Sir'. emsr2d2 is a highly respected female teacher.

My apology @ emsr2d2 for using "sir'. I used it inadvertently.

Even if you know the gender of the person you are addressing, we don't need sirs or madams on this forum. We are all members together, trying to help each other when we can.

The word has three meanings but there is only one used as an adjective on people.
