Hello, everyone.

I found the following example sentence in Longman Dictionary Online:

Can we have strawberries? They're my favourite.

I think "favourite" in this context should be a count noun, so why don't it be They're my favourites?

"Favourites" isn't wrong but I see the original sentence as being a shortened form of "They're my favourite fruit" or "They're my favourite food".
