What does it mean:


"This is wrought with pitfalls,especially if one is dealing with highly variable or episodic systems."

That sounds very odd. Are you sure you didn't hear "It is fraught​ with pitfalls ..."?

I'd say it's a misuse of "wrought".

Then it's an error and makes no sense. "Wrought" means "made with" and is normally followed by "from".

"Fraught with pitfalls" makes much more sense. Either the writer made a straight error or they have always misheard the phrase "fraught with" and they genuinely think it's "wrought with".
