Kindly clear me the context and difference between the following sentences.
1: The match is to be played between England and Australia.
2: The match will be played between England and Australia.

In the context of a sporting event, I can't see much difference between the two forms- the first is said to be more inevitable/planned/destined, but here I can't see it.
