To give someone space exists but which one of these is correct?
BRE please.

"He went to take some space"
"He went to have some space"

"To give someone space" exists but which one of these is correct in BrE? [STRIKE]BRE please.[/STRIKE]

"He went to take some space."
"He went to have some space."

Note my corrections above. Neither sentence makes any sense to me. It's possible you mean "He went to get some space", meaning "He left in order to get some space (and usually time) for himself, away from other people".

Use get or have but not take.
