[General] to make a selfie or to do a selfie?

Which one is correct: 'I will make a selfie for you' or 'I will do a selfie for you'.

Neither is correct. We "take" photos and selfies.

Note my corrections above, marked in red.

If it is a selfie, then wouldn't you be taking it with the person. If you are just taking a photo of the person, it isn't a selfie, is it?

I think the trend is kind of idiotic, but as I understand it, it can be called a 'selfie' regardless of how many people are in the picture, as long as one of the people taking the picture is also in the picture and holding the phone/camera.

That's certainly how I understand/use it. If I take a photo with my phone and I'm in that photo, it's a selfie regardless of who else is in it. However, I spotted a slight anomaly in my usage. If I put my phone/camera on a nearby table, put it on timer and then run to be in the photo, I'd probably call it a timer photo. I need to be physically holding the phone/camera in an outstretched arm and pointing it back at me for it to be a selfie.
