To rubbish claims to something

"In these fairytales, trashing/rubbishing all claims to human exceptionalism, trees walk and birds talk."
Is it possible to rubbish claims to something, as in the above sentence I wrote?

I suppose you want to use "rubbish" as a verb. Good luck with that!

If somebody made a claim about something and I thought it was untrue I would debunk it or repudiate it or make a counterclaim.

I agree with @Tarheel. Rubbish as a verb is unknown in AmE.
To be fair, it's not used as a noun the same way in AmE that it is in BrE either. What we call "rubbish" is "trash/garbage" for AmE speakers.
