Hi all

I found this question in Barron's Book:

Those <A> of us who <B> smoke should have their <C> lungs X-rayed regularly <D>.

I didn't find anything wrong !

what's its problem?

C is wrong.

Try again.

I think I'm not sure "their" refers to whom.
I thought "their" refers to "those of us", so it's coherent but I guess I was wrong.
Still I don't know what should I use instead of "their".

What about "our" instead of "their"?

Agreed, "our" is the needed correction. Agreement, or concord, is the reason:

  • He who smokes should have his lungs ...
  • Those people who smoke should have their lungs ...
  • Those of us who smoke should have our lungs ...
