I’m wondering if the below answer to the synthesis question is correct.

Question: Tommy swims very well. He dances very well too.
My answer: Tommy swims as well as dances very well.

The words ‘ as well as’ must be used.

Thank you!

Your answer is fine.

I was just wondering if the following sentence could be an appropriate alternative solution: "Tommy is very good at swimming as well as at dancing."

I like this one better than your first. The last "at" is not needed.

You can also say "As well as swimming very well, Tommy dances very well."

A slightly contentious version is "Tommy dances as well as he swims". The assumption would be that he is good at both but a pedant will point out that he could actually be bad/terrible at both.
I might say "I play the piano as well as I tap dance". If the listener knows I can't tap dance, he/she would know that I also can't play the piano.
