Song lyrics are a form of poetry, and poetry can be interpreted, although its interpretation is more difficult and controversial than that of prose.
Without pronouncing on the merits of this particular poem, I think it is clear that it is addressed to a former lover. When she describes her former lover as a "twist in my sobriety" the author acknowledges that their relationship caused her to be less sober than usual, while at the same time dismissing that effect as unimportant, inconsequential.

Of course it is! (Most) people understand there's a world of difference between normal language that can be reasonably analysed and lyrics. :-D

As Bill said 'It's from a song' was no help whatsoever.
What would have been helpful is a link to the song lyrics which ems had to go to the trouble of finding for post #6.

It was no trouble - it would have been if I hadn't known the song anyway! However, I think "context" is sometimes misunderstood on the forum. We don't mean "it's from a book/film/poem" - we mean "What is the situation in which the words are spoken, what are the lines of dialogue on either side of it, who says the line and in response to what?" etc etc. Admittedly, in songs, that is harder to answer but if we ask for context with lyrics, we are asking to see the rest of the lyrics which might well make the quoted phrase much easier to explain.
