[Grammar] Two "that" in a row

Hello. Is it wrong to have two "that" in a row? I found myself writing this sentence below today.

He writes great essays. Thinking that that comes as an innate ability is rather foolish, he spent most of his youth immersed in books.

I believe that that "that" that that member finds too much is correct, if not the neatest way to convey the meaning intended. ;-)

It's normal. If you need two 'that's to clearly express your meaning, then use them.

I agree that it can be OK, but in your sentence both occurrences of "that" are not needed.

No, but "Thinking that comes as an innate ability is rather foolish" can easily be misread. I wouldn't write that sentence, but if I did, I'd put two thats there.
