In English do old hand and young hand have some animal correspondence? In Turkish we do this. We literally call an experienced person as an old wolf and inexperienced one as kite, a wild bird or bustard, again a bird.

Thank you.

Despite what you found in one dictionary, young hand is not an expression in modern English.

We do have some animal-related expressions. Only an old goat comes to mind right now. It means an older man who makes inappropriate advances towards younger women.

. Is old goath a slang so not to say in front of children? And do you use lion-heart for brave people and fox and jackel for the people who think yourselves cleaver and try to make wrong things. We call a greedy person as a greedy dog.

Thank you.
