Use of apostrophe

I am sure this question may have been asked before but having searched the forum I've been unable to find an answer to settle a debate on the use of the apostrophe to denote possession in this specific case:

A club for owners of Cadillac motorcars is
a) The Cadillac Owners' Club
or
b) The Cadillac Owners Club
I am almost certain that it is not "The Cadillac Owner's Club" but on the other two possibilities I am not sure.
The theory on the the first example if I understand the rules of apostrophes correctly is that it denotes possession but because there is more than 1 Cadillac Owner (in other words many people own Cadillacs) the apostrophe comes after the 's' of Owners.
However, I have seen it written that possessive nouns do not need the apostrophe to denote possession and therefore is the second example correct in that 'Owners' is possessive by implication and therefore does not have the apostrophe.
Or is it the case that the club is for Cadillac Owners and there being more than 1 Cadillac owner it is a plural as in 'The Club for Cadillac Owners' and therefore does not have an apostrophe.
What is the correct nomenclature please? And does it make any difference if the word "The" is included or excluded from the title?

Depends on what you want to say:

The Cadillac Owners Club = group of people who own cadillacs and formed a club.

The Cadillac Owner's Club = Club belongs to the owners.

It could be either "owners club" or "owners' club."

The latter means that the club belongs to the owners of Cadillacs.

The former means that it is a club consisting of Calillac owners.

A distinction without much of a difference.
