I want to know about verb tense combination in clauses.
1. Whether the progressive tense(present continuous, past continuous, future continuous) appear in Independent clause?
If it is possible then which all tenses can be used in dependent clause?

2. Whether the perfect progressive tense(present perfect continuous, past perfect continuous, future perfect continuous) appear in Independent clause?
If it is possible then which all tenses can be used in dependent clause?

Welcome to the forum, vinayakcs. :hi:

There are certain retrictions; the so-called future tenses, for example, are not normally used in temporal or conditional clauses. Generally, however, all tenses can be used in all clauses.

  1. which all tenses can be used in dependent clause when it is preceded by progressive tense in Independent clause?
  2. which all tenses can be used in dependent clause when it is preceded by perfect progressive tense in Independent clause?
I am concerned about dependent clause. I think all tense combinations in dependent and independent clauses are not correct.
