Is "class cut-up" a pun here which refers to she's the one who could not be trumped in the class and who's very funny as well"? Or "cut-up" is simply in its traditional scope meaning "a person who is fond of making jokes or playing pranks"?

Catherine Susan “Kitty” Genovese was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 7, 1935, to parents Vincent and Rachel Genovese. The oldest of five children, Genovese was a graduate of Prospect Heights High School and remembered as a very good student and voted “Class Cut-Up” in her senior year.

Cut-up was slang for a person who clowns around a lot. American high-school yearbook editors traditionally run a poll to elect members of the graduating class to fictional positions of this kind.
