When should I use vs, when should I use and?

Here are some why that I write:

Example 1: What is the difference of green apples and red apples?

Example 2: What is the difference of green apples vs red apples?

Example 3: What is the difference these fruits, green apples and red apples?

Example 4: What is the difference these fruits, green apples vs red apples?

Which example is wrong/correct?

None of them work. Say, "What is the difference between green apples and red apples?"
Answer: The colour. ;-)

When to use "vs"? Can show me some examples?

When can I use "vs"? Can you show me some examples?
As a general guideline, use v or vs only for sports fixtures and versus in other contexts.

Note that, when read, vs is pronounced "versus". If you hear it read as "verse", the reader is making a mistake.

When it comes to law, the v is often pronounced v.
