1. We are so excited about our trip next month to France. We are going to visit Paris, Nice and Grenoble.
2. Sarah will come to the party. Oliver will be there as well.

I think I understand why, in the first example, "to be going to" is used but can't see why it can't be used in the second case as well. To me, the meaning can be very similar: they are planning to come to the party. Would you explain to me the difference between the two examples, please?
