Write a new sentence similar in meaning to the original
We have no idea where he is (whereabouts)
His whereabouts are unknown to us or We have no idea about his whereabouts? Which one is correct?
 
I would say "... of his whereabouts", if only to avoid the "about-abouts" repetition.
