Would you please explain the meaning of "signature" used here:
"At least, we will find clear signatures [evidence of life] that have come from intelligent life. It’s the kind of discovery that will shake humanity."
Yes, I have referred to a dictionary but your explanations would be better. I think that this is a non-standard use of "signature". Would "sign" or "signal" be much better?
