"What about you" or "How about you"

Misouri : Pretty good, what about you?

Is "what about you" here correct, or should have it been "how about you"? why?

My opinion is that "what about you" is correct here.

Also

How are you! or How have you been!
Not so bad! What about you?
 
In AmE, "How about you?" is the more frequently heard response. All of e2e4´s options are also frequently heard.
