Hi,

Which preposition works most naturally?

What fruit grows on/from/in this tree?

Thanks in advance.

Hi..

I would say on trees.

Thank you, perfection1.

Let me make sure of one thing.

Do you mean that 'from/in trees' is ungrammatical, or is it just not idiomatic?

Thanks in advance.

"What fruit grows on this tree?" This is correct.

Fruit grows on a tree. But we can ask "What fruit do you get from this tree." I can't think of a use for "in" when referring to an individual tree.
However, we can say that oranges are often grown in orchards.

I would say:

What kind of fruit grows on this tree?
How much fruit do you get from this tree?
