[Grammar] What is right?

Hi!
If I transform the sentence " Smithers painted 'Red Sunset' in 1986." into passive voice, I get two answers.
They are:
1. 'Red Sunset' was painted by Smithers in 1986.
2. 'Red Sunset' was painted in 1986 by Smithers.

Please tell me which one is right.

Neither is wrong, but 1. more closely resembles the active voice sentence in that "Smithers" and "painted" are together. In 2., "in 1986" separates them.
Also, 1. sounds better to me.
