Re: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROMPT AND REMIND ?

Why don't you write a few sentences where you're not sure which one to use.

Usually "prompt" is used in acting/performance, in computers, and perhaps a parent prompting a child to use "the magic words" (please, thank you).

Re: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROMPT AND REMIND ?

"Prompt" can be used in business contexts when you are expecting a response.

"I haven't heard from Jim. I'll prompt him."

But "remind" or "reminder" is much more common. Especially when writing to someone.

"This is a reminder that I still need a response on this issue."

Thank you so much.

Please note that I have amended your thread title.

I couldn't face having it shouting at me until it fell off the bottom of the page.
